Celebrated annually on: 28 February On February 28, 1928, Chandrasekhara Venkata (CV) Raman announced the discovery of the Raman Effect and for it he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. ( The Raman effect is the change in the wavelength of light that occurs when a light beam is deflected by molecules.) Aim of celebration: Discovery of the Raman Effect by physicist CV Raman in 1928. Since 1986, this day has been celebrated across India to recognise scientific achievements and promote awareness among students and the public.
