Global Unplug Day 2025 (March 7): Disconnect to Reconnect...

The term ‘digital native’, 'technology addiction' are quiet common now a days. This refers to people who have grown up using digital technology, and are therefore highly comfortable with and possibly dependent on it.

The Global Day of Unplugging is an annual event on the first Friday of March that encourages people to disconnect from technology for 24 hours. It's a day to focus on mindfulness, connection, and well-being.

How it started:
The National Day of Unplugging was started in 2009. It's based on the Jewish tradition of Shabbat, a weekly day of rest. Now it has become global national unplug day.

Importance of Global Unplug Day:
In our digital age, we are glued to our phones, computers and other devices. While technology has clearly made our lives more convenient and connected, it can also have negative impacts on our mental and physical health. That's why the National Unplugging day is so important.

The transformation that technology has brought in our life with positive and negative impact is already known and is described in my earlier articles. So, with this in mind here are countless benefits of unplugging (even for few hours):

  • One can focus on real-life interactions
  • Spend quality time with friends and family
  • Play indoor-outdoor games with kids
  • Spending time in nature
  • Pursuing hobbies
  • Let go of everyday worries
  • Reconnect with your true self
  • Practice meditation
  • Listen to your inner voice
  • Read a book
  • Take a walk
  • Plant a garden
  • Release stress...
  • Corporates can  plan an hour of tech-free activity
  • Whether it's just one hour or a full 24 hours, unplugging can also help you discover new hobbies, rediscover old passions, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Some tips on HOW TO UNPLUG:
  • Turn off notifications in mobile
  • Put away your phone during meals
  • Create no phone zones
  • Set specific times to check your phone or computer.
  • Limit yourself to one screen at a time
  • Engage yourself in activities mentioned above...
Unplugging is not about eliminating technology altogether, but about finding a healthy balance and using it in a mindful way.

The Global Day of Unplugging is just one day, but it can be a great starting point to help you develop a healthier relationship with technology in the long term. Global Day of Unplugging is the perfect opportunity to take that first step.

So, friends It's a time for digital detox for few hours. So, mark your calendars for the first Friday in March, unplug your devices, and enjoy the many benefits of a tech-free life!

LET's TAKE A PAUSE and DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT.

Do share your experiences with me. 👍

KIDS : Our reflection, Our Responsibility

Friends, can we spare sometime and go back to our childhood....  The fun days we had, stress-free environment we lived, friend circle we had, level of communication we had with our family, games we used to play with our parents and lot many things.....  We did not have so many exposures but yes, the freedom (stress-free) to play and study. We did not have many activities around but still exposure with no competition around.  We did not have too many tuitions but still had professionals and skilled people around.  Feel so nice to think of all this.  BUT  Are we as parents really providing the same environment to our kids? They are always loaded with too much of competition, too many challenges, too many exams and evaluations, too many tuitions. It's an environment full of stress. Its good sometimes to have competition but everything in excess is harmful. Friends it's taking away their childhood. CHILDHOOD COMES ONLY ONCE LET's NOT SPOIL IT... LET THEM ENJOY...

International Mother Language day (21 feb) : માતૃભાષા આપણું ગૌરવ

Friends, tomorrow is International Mother language day , on this occasion i would like to ask that, when our child speaks English fluently we feel proud but at the same time when he/she cannot even utter a word in our mother tongue why are we not feeling shameful?  It's good and necessary to know fluent English but at the same time it's equally important to know fluent reading and writing of our mother tongue.  Mother tongue is our pride. માતૃભાષા આપણું ગૌરવ છે. 21મી ફેબ્રુઆરી આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય માતૃભાષા દિવસ તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે.
