Impact of digital communication on listening skills( TEXT OVER TALK)

IN THIS ERA, People Prefer TEXTING OVER TALKING. This digital-age phenomenon has transformed the way people listen, consume information and engage in conversations.

While technology offers many advantages, it also presents challenges that impact our listening skills, which are crucial for communication, learning, and personal growth.

In the digital age, researchers suggest a mixed impact on listening and hearing skills. The potential benefits are:
  • Online discussions, webinars, and digital storytelling help people listen to different voices with various perspectives from around the world.
  • Access to lot of Information
  • AI-powered tools for easy understanding...

It is said that Listen not to reply, but to understand.
But in current time, there are challenges that do exist and we need to immediately pay attention on that to preserve vital listening skills.

  • Reduced Attention Spans: The constant flow of information and notifications on social media reduces Active Listening and Attention Spans.
Active listeningA communication technique of paying attention to verbal and nonverbal cues of a speaker.
Attention spanLength of time for which a person is able to concentrate on a particular activity.
  • Lack of Nonverbal Cues: Online communication sometimes lack nonverbal cues. This might lead to miscommunications if not addressed with clear and active listening practices.
  • Emotional Disconnect: Digital interactions sometimes lack in emotional part of communication, a very essential part for personalized response.
  • Hearing Loss RisksProlonged exposure to loud music and other sounds through digital devices (including ear phones) can contribute to hearing loss, impacting listening abilities.

A balanced approach of using technology while,
  • practicing mindful listening
  • protection of hearing health
during digital communication is very much essential in this era.

Friends do think over this aspect to preserve this vital listening skills of ours and our future generations.

KIDS : Our reflection, Our Responsibility

Friends, can we spare sometime and go back to our childhood....  The fun days we had, stress-free environment we lived, friend circle we had, level of communication we had with our family, games we used to play with our parents and lot many things.....  We did not have so many exposures but yes, the freedom (stress-free) to play and study. We did not have many activities around but still exposure with no competition around.  We did not have too many tuitions but still had professionals and skilled people around.  Feel so nice to think of all this.  BUT  Are we as parents really providing the same environment to our kids? They are always loaded with too much of competition, too many challenges, too many exams and evaluations, too many tuitions. It's an environment full of stress. Its good sometimes to have competition but everything in excess is harmful. Friends it's taking away their childhood. CHILDHOOD COMES ONLY ONCE LET's NOT SPOIL IT... LET THEM ENJOY...

International Mother Language day (21 feb) : માતૃભાષા આપણું ગૌરવ

Friends, tomorrow is International Mother language day , on this occasion i would like to ask that, when our child speaks English fluently we feel proud but at the same time when he/she cannot even utter a word in our mother tongue why are we not feeling shameful?  It's good and necessary to know fluent English but at the same time it's equally important to know fluent reading and writing of our mother tongue.  Mother tongue is our pride. માતૃભાષા આપણું ગૌરવ છે. 21મી ફેબ્રુઆરી આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય માતૃભાષા દિવસ તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે.
