Shopping: A woman's joy in every cart. Continued....
While this is true, our shopping behavior and our mindset during shopping impacts our children, so we need to keep an eye on that.
In my last articles, I explored the first two elements of shopping i.e. Spending money and Saving Time. Now let's look at last element which is State of Mind:
S - State of Mind During Shopping
Being mindful of one's emotions while shopping not only helps in making better financial decisions but also sets a strong foundation for children to develop responsible and balanced shopping habits.
- Avoid Shopping when Hungry or Rushed.
Being in a hurry leads to poor decision-making.
- Avoid Impulse Buying (Add to Cart & Wait).
If you like something, add it to your cart but don’t buy immediately. Many websites send discount offers if you wait a day or two. Revisiting cart items will give you chance to rethink on the need of an item.
- Read Reviews & Ratings Carefully. Make use of technology.
Look for verified buyer reviews with pictures. Avoid products with too many similar-sounding positive reviews (may be fake).
- Flash Sales & Urgency Traps (“Only 2 Left!”).
FOMO (fear of missing out) pushes impulse buying. Avoid shopping when stressed, sad, or excited - it also leads to impulse buying.
UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEED AND WANT.
Enjoy SMART Shopping. 😃
